Case Manager / Social Worker, full-time contract position

Justice for Children and Youth works to protect and advance the legal rights and dignity of children and youth. We are a specialty clinic funded primarily by Legal Aid Ontario, and one of the only organizations in Canada focused exclusively on the legal practice of child and youth rights across a range of legal subjects.

JFCY is looking for a Case Manager / Social Worker to fill a full-time position; initially a 1-year term, with extension dependent on funding. The successful candidate will be responsible for client intakes, assessments, and case management services, along with providing crisis-intervention, client support, advocacy, and follow-up support services to address clients’ intersecting legal, social and personal needs. The Case Manager / Social Worker will also assist with community outreach initiatives and other internal and external projects and systemic change initiatives as applicable.

The successful candidate will demonstrate an ability to work well in a team environment with a commitment to anti-oppression and social justice issues and values, and a commitment to the protection and advancement of child and youth rights.

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master of Social Work (MSW) preferred, however, other social work or social services background, coupled with relevant experience, knowledge and skills will also be considered
  • Committed to and knowledgeable about social justice and anti-oppression and the rights of children and youth
  • Strong advocacy skills, and demonstrated skill providing trauma- and violence-informed services
  • Demonstrated experience with development of case management plans for young people
  • Interest in areas of law practised by the clinic
  • Strong written and oral communication, organizational and administrative skills

Assets:

  • Registration in good standing with Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW)
  • Experience with youth outside law
  • Experience working for a community-based organization
  • Ability to communicate in a language other than English
  • Policy development / law reform experience

Salary Range: dependent on qualifications: $65,000 – $80,000 per year, plus benefits.
